Create a master plan carefully jotting down on all the important milestones and how you plan to get there. Your plan should have alternate routes in case there is a risk involved in certain activities not finishing in time.

Create a budget

Money handling is the most important job of the event manager. Create a comprehensive budget and ensure all spending is happening within its bounds.

Determine the evaluation process

Have very specific goals that you want the event to meet. Your event, and eventually the success of your Event Organizer, will be measured by this yardstick. Knowing the evaluation process up-front will also make it easier to choose between priorities when faced with situations where one item has to be picked over the other.
