There are 2 different ways in which you can become a real estate investor – passive and active. A passive investor would be someone who puts his/her money in a real estate project and does not have a whole lot of involvement in the daily functioning of the project. A leasing consultant is somebody who ensures that all the units in a given building are filled with tenants. This work may often find you working in evenings and over weekends, but the bonus is that this job also comes with a great amount of flexibility. If you enjoy negotiations and marketing, then this would make a great position for you. Leasing consultants have to advertise openings and specials in the buildings they manage and can be often seen throwing promotional events. Foreclosure Specialist

A foreclosure specialist is somebody who will be hired by a private lender or a bank so that they can take the responsibility of all the processes and documentation that is required to be followed when a property goes through a foreclosure process. These people will review the financial statements of their clients and help in processing foreclosure cases so that the property in distress can be sold again. A foreclosure specialist will need to be very organized and sensitive to deadlines.

If you love going to school and want to continue growing skills with more education can take you beyond real estate, then you may consider the opportunity of working as a real estate attorney. Now you may not be directly responsible for putting up the property for sale signs but you will get to practice in a lot of different areas. You could become an advocate for the rights of tenants or provide consul services before a big real estate transaction happens.
